Hi Friend,
I have been thinking a lot recently about my spiritual life. I have been thinking about Prayer, Bible reading and study, Meditation, Fasting, Journaling, Service and so many more spiritual disciplines. Many of them I have found to be beneficial, inspiring, even defining, but I must confess that I do not practice many with any regularity.
I tell myself: “Well, you are very busy.” But then I remind myself, “Steve, if you are not spiritually grounded and Christ-centered, then you are not doing what God is calling you to do, no matter how many hours you work.”
So I am going to spend some time between now and Thanksgiving giving lots of attention to the spiritual disciples, my use of them and the time I set aside in my schedule for spiritual growth and nurture.
Why don’t you join me and do the same in and for your life.
Let me pray this prayer for you and me. It is a prayer taken from a Prayer of Saint Patrick (389-461) and modified over the years in Celtic tradition. I have made my own changes as well.
God of love, hear my prayer:
May Christ guard me today from physical, emotional or spiritual harm.
And may I go with Christ as my constant companion:
Christ before me and behind me,
beneath me and above me; with me and in me;
around me and about me; on my left and on my right.
Christ be with me when I arise and when I lie down;
in each heart that thinks of me;
in each mouth that speaks of me;
in each eye that sees me and ear that hears me.
May I walk this day with trust in the power of the Holy Trinity.
And may I grow in my faith in God the Creator, Christ the Redeemer,
and the Holy Spirit, the ever-present holiness around and within me.
Glory and Honor to all Three. Amen.
Let us grow together in our spiritual walk…
With the prayer that you may experience Grace and Peace,
Steve
