Welcome to Children's Ministries!

Children are important to God and they are important to Mt. Pisgah. We believe that a vital part of our mission to bring others to Christ involves teaching children about God and Jesus in ways that are meaningful, engaging and age-appropriate. We seek to engage children in programs and activities that help them to know and experience God’s love for them and for all of creation. Our focus is on helping children know God for themselves and on helping families learn how to live out their faith in real and meaningful ways. We invite you to join us at any of our children’s programs to experience God’s love in action. We always welcome new faces!

Kay Adams, our Director of Children’s Ministries, is available to speak with you about our programs and activities any time. You may reach her by phone at 804-794-5856x226, or stop by the Children’s Ministry office (upstairs in the Education building, Room 208). No appointment is necessary; office hours are generally M-W, 9:00am-1:30pm and Friday, 9:00am-11:30pm.

Children's Council

Interested in learning more about Children’s Ministry at Mt. Pisgah?  Join us for our next Children’s Council meeting!  We will gather in Room 211 (upstairs, Education building) and share in a communal meal while we discuss all things "children"!  Meetings are open to all and are very casual; we always have lots of laughter and lots of ideas being tossed around.  Come join us! Date TBA.

Child Protection

At Mt. Pisgah we believe that the spiritual, emotional and physical well-being of children and youth is vital. All members of the church staff have completed a thorough background check and all volunteers working with children and youth on a regular basis are required to complete the volunteer background screening process and to comply with the Mt. Pisgah Child Protection Policy. It is our intent that these procedures will assist our congregation to provide a physically safe, emotionally secure, and spiritually nurturing environment for all who attend services or activities sponsored by Mt. Pisgah. For more information about these policies and procedures please contact Kay Adams or a member of the Child Protection Committee.

Opportunities to Join Us in Ministry

Want to help with Children’s Ministries? Here are some of our current ministry opportunities:

  • Sunday School Nursery Care Team - We are looking for someone to help in the nursery once each quarter during the Sunday School hour (9:30-10:30am).  You will be working with our nursery supervisor, Tami Barille.  All nursery personnel must complete a background check.  What a wonderful way to share God's love with our youngest members!
  • Sunday School Shepherds (elementary grades)We are looking for several people to join our shepherding team for children's Sunday School this school year (September 2016-June 2017).  Shepherds assist the classroom teacher with administrative tasks (nametags, attendance, offering, etc) as well as nurturing the kids and assisting with lesson activities as needed.  Shepherds serve on a rotating schedule, about once a month, working with the same group of kids all year.  Time commitment is 9:15-10:35am on Sunday morning; no at-home preparation is needed.
